Eixample, Barcelona

What it is
A contemporary tower with a special focus on food.
What it isn't
Meditative. The mantra-like name befits the 91 serene rooms, but the public spaces are humming.
What we think
Restaurateur Rosa Maria Esteva is an idol in Barcelona, with 22 restaurants (and counting). Her hotel, designed by architect Juli Capella to play well with Gaudí’s Casa Milà, a block away, is every bit as carefully plotted as her menus. The lobby, with its groovy seating and central fireplace, is ideal for cocktails with a DJ-spun soundtrack, and the rooftop terrace and pool also create a scene-y backdrop (with an assist from the spires of the Sagrada Familia). Esteva herself designed the Treka mattress in your spare, soothing room and fitted it with linen bedspreads over sumptuous Egyptian cotton sheets. The food here is—unsurprisingly—a major draw: open-kitchen Roca Moo restaurant is run by the brothers behind perennial list-topper El Celler de Can Roca, and has earned a Michelin star for its Catalan dishes (elderberry, cherry and smoked eel soup; suckling pig terrine with melon and beet).
You're here because
You're here to explore Barcelona’s cutting-edge food and design, so why not stay where those scenes converge?
The Moment
After a day of indulging in, frankly, too much jamón (yes, there is such a thing!), the steam and Kessa gloved olive oil black soap scrub in the spa has you feeling like a newborn bebé.
