Salamanca, Madrid

Rosewood Villa Magna

Fashion-forward luxury

What it is

A glitzy bolthole in the well-heeled Salamanca district.

What it isn't

Historic. The building has a certain Seventies glam, but don’t expect the Baroque splendor of Madrid’s palace hotels.

What we think

Reopening in mid-2021 as a brand new member of the Rosewood group, this renovated 1972 icon on Paseo de la Castellana is right in the middle of Madrid's fashion district. The famed hotel backs up onto El Corte Inglés (the Barneys of Madrid) and maintains Black Card–level relationships with nearby fashion powerhouses including Chopard, Ermenegildo Zegna, and Audemars Piguet. The red-carpet treatment isn’t just when you’re shopping, of course: A chauffeur will pick you up at the airport in a Mercedes-Benz S Class, and pampering services include one-hour ironing, twice-daily housekeeping and gratis shoe-shine. The multilingual Les Clefs d’Or concierge are ready to help, whatever your request, 24/7. The 150 rooms themselves are swathed in relaxing neutrals—with double-glazed windows to ensure you’ll get undisturbed sleep. For families, the hotel pulls out all the Crayola-bright stops, including tot-sized robes, games and accoutrements.

You're here because

You want first-class treatment in a modern environment, and prefer a location that privileges Gucci over Goya.

The Moment

You love a good picnic but hate the schlep, and Villa Magna’s butler is nonplussed to do all the grunt work for your picnic in Retiro Park. All you have to do is decide if you want champagne (you do)—plus take the requisite snapshots.

Restaurants & Bars

Restaurante Villa Magna - Innovative gastronomic cuisine from Executive Chef Amalio Prados.

Magnum Bar - Early evening cocktail through to late night tete-a-tetes, with seating indoors or on the patio.

Lounge - Snacks, light lunch dishes or cocktails with views onto the Lounge Terrace and Paseo de la Castellana.

Location

The wealthy Salamanca district of central Madrid, adjacent to the financial district and lined with designer boutiques and upscale restaurants. The major museums are 20 minutes by foot, 10 by taxi. The airport is just 20 minutes away.
