Cap Rocat

Fortress of Good Fortune

What it is

A stone fortress turned luxury hotel on the Bay of Palma.

What it isn't

Family-friendly. An adults-only policy enhances the private, romantic atmosphere.

What we think

If infinity pools that seem to blend into the Med, airy suites carved out of cliffs and fortified citadels, and a saltwater pool 40 feet below the earth’s surface (and lit by skylight) aren’t enough to lure you to this property, consider the service. Staff of Cap Rocat employ the type of cosseting usually reserved for celebrities (Catherine Zeta-Jones was here!). If you’d like a torch-lit dinner on the sand or a deep-sea fishing trip with a local master, consider it on your agenda. The honey-pink sandstone structure contains 29 rooms, many of them with old cannons on their private terraces. Warning: Like giving up the throne, it’s not easy to leave.

You're here because

You want a sexy, intimate escape on the water, and a design that combines the centuries-old with fresh modernist lines.

The Moment

After a sun-swept day of scooting around the inlet on a sailboat, dinner under the alfresco shades at the Sea Club—where each dish is grilled to order over Mallorcan firewood—is the perfect conclusion.

Restaurants & Bars

The Fortress Restaurant - Located inside the main building of the fortress in the winter or in the main courtyard during the summer, the hotel's main restaurant serves Mediterranean dishes that change depending on the season, all ingredients are sourced from local farms.

The Sea Club - This open-air, waterfront restaurant serves fresh Mediterranean dishes cooked in a traditional Mallorcan firewood oven and grill, open daily for lunch and dinner (between May 15th and October 15th), guests enjoy stunning views over the entire Bay of Palma.

The Former Fortress Kitchen - The former kitchen to the entire Spanish fortress has been refurbished into a private dining room where guests can enjoy wine tastings or cooking classes.

Cap Rocat serves a bountiful breakfast served in the comfort of each guest's private patio.

The Terrace - This rooftop terrace, located above the Fortress hall, offers guests panoramic views of the Bay of Palma, an excellent area for evening cocktails.

The former fortress halls have all been restored into various relaxing areas, guests can arrange for private lounges for their own comfort and privacy. The Fortress Hall and The Arched Ballroom are function rooms that can be outfitted for private meetings or events seating up to 250 people.
