Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel

Glitzy Mallorca Modernism

What it is

A clean-lined hillside property with 121 rooms, each with a private terrace.

What it isn't

Historic. The resort opened to much fanfare five years ago, and it’s updated to-the-minute.

What we think

Jumeirah’s first European resort is every bit of capital-L Luxury we’ve come to expect from the Dubai-based super-brand (which happens to have the Burj Al Arab in its portfolio). Unmissable: the adults-only infinity pool, which appears to float above the Mediterranean, plus a hydropool complete with massaging water jets facing the Tramuntana mountains. But our favorite thing about the property may just be that they’ve created such exquisite guided adventures away from it, including coastal Harley Davidson tours to age-old villages and the 13th-century Lluc Monastery, and sunset watching by yacht on Palma bay. In other words: they want you to explore full-tilt by day, and coddle you by night.

You're here because

Unlike other properties in the area it’s Mary Poppins–level child-friendly. There’s a kids pool, and the tricked out Barbaroja’s Kids Club is gratis for two hours a day—plenty of time for you to hit the spa.

The Moment

From your cliffside table at the hotel’s Cap Roig restaurant, dusk turns the Mediterranean from blue to yellow, then pink, as the waiter drops off something equally breathtaking: Beluga caviar and blinis with sour cream.
