The Woodward

Oetker Collection

What it is

A 1901 grande dame on Lake Geneva with interiors by Pierre-Yves Rochon, a Guerlain spa, indoor pool, and two glam restaurants (one with a Michelin star).

What it isn't

Lacking in curated activities. The Woodward’s expert staff can arrange anything from behind the scenes visits of a Swiss watchmaker’s workshop to an oenophile’s picnic in the nearby wine country.

What we think

Indulging in a sumptuous hotel stay is one of the greatest joys of visiting Switzerland, where a sense of luxury is all but required. Within this jaw-dropping Belle Époque hotel, all guests are treated like V.I.P.s: each and every one of the 26 guest room options is a suite, starting at a massive 600 square feet. We love the Junior Suites for their in-room fireplace and a lacquered wood bar as well as the 860 square foot Suite Bellevue, which has a panorama of the French Alps from its top floor perch. The Royal Suite, too, is worth a splurge, thanks to its ginormous 1,730 square foot interior, two private balconies, a living room that’s truly living (thanks to a Baccarat crystal chandelier) and a dining room that seats up to 10 of your favorite kingpins.

You're here because

You’re a Guerlain obsessive, and the nearly 13,000 square foot Guerlain Spa is everything you could have dreamt of, down to black orchid age reversing treatments and four hand massages.

The Moment

From your supple leather stool at the bar in Michelin-starred restaurant L’Atelier Robuchon, you’re already wondering why they don’t have a Michelin galaxy. The menu is pure perfection, from the roasted langoustine simmered with Meyer lemon to the kirsch mousse with Morello cherry confit.
