What it isn't

A schlep from the ski slopes. Cervo is truly a ski-in, ski-out property, with a perch directly under the Matterhorn (i.e. some of the best skiing on earth.) They’re Après-ski prepped, too, with DJs spinning and steaming cocktails at-the-ready.

What we think

Cervo is devoted to a local, only-in-Zermatt experience, and it shows. Staff curate insidery adventures galore, including topnotch table reservations at Michelin-starred restaurants in towns and hikes to nearby suspension bridges. But if you wanted to stay put in your room, we wouldn’t blame you. The 236 square foot Nomad S room is fitted with all you need for a cozy stay, including a Hästens bed, Samsung tablet, private terrace with deck chairs and Soeder toiletries made right here in Switzerland. We love the Huntsman 5 rooms for their private chalet feel, with floor to ceiling windows that overlook lush forest canopies. Whichever room you book, you’ll be pampered with free-range of the Ashram Spa, comped yoga sessions, a climbing wall to play on and more.

The Moment

You have to pinch yourself when you walk into Chalet Ferdinand, where every single item on the menu is made from ingredients found right here, down to the note-perfect fondue and raclette. But it’s the storybook architecture with soaring open beam ceilings hung with herbs that you’ll be dreaming about for years to come.
