Raffles Istanbul
Exclusive luxury in the heart of Istanbul
What it is
A high design hotel in the city’s contemporary Zorlu Center.
What it isn't
Close to Sultanamet, where most of Istanbul’s major cultural attractions—the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque—are located.
What we think
Raffles is an entry point to 21st century Istanbul, ideal for the traveler who has already ticked off the city’s main cultural attractions and wants to get a taste of upper crust city life. Its Zorlu Center location—where rich Turks do their shopping, far from the Grand Bazaar—is clean and modern, as is the hotel tower itself, designed by local architecture firm Emre Arolat & Tabanlıoğlu, thanks to its striking white curves. Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony overlooking the sloping skyline, the Prince Islands and the Bosporus. Guest quarters and public spaces are filled with commissioned art works—there over 200, including a mural of the Istanbul’s 1856 Dolmabahce Palace by French artist Jean-Francois Rauzier—and the property’s six bars and restaurants serve traditional Mediterranean foods as well as contemporary Spanish cuisine. Hotel guests also have direct access to the Zorlu Center via the Raffles Arcade, lined with upscale shops such as a boutique by Turkish jeweler Sevan Bicakci, whose intricate works look like something Khaleesi might pick out to wear to a ceremonial crowning.
You're here because
You want to get to know contemporary Istanbul and stay outside of the tourist zone. Jetsetters will also appreciate the hotel’s VIP fast track customs service and helicopter airport transfer.
The Moment
Sipping the Bosporus Sling—a take on Raffles’ Singapore creation, made with fresh pomegranate and hibiscus grenadine—and watching the sunset over the Price Island from the silk pillow-topped daybed just inside your private balcony.
