Mondrian London Shoreditch
What it is
An insider favorite in hipster Shoreditch conjoined with a concert hall and private club.
What it isn't
Too cool for comfort.
What we think
Creative types obsess over Mondrian London Shoreditch, formerly The Curtain, because it has so many prime and pampering tricks behind the proverbial, well, curtain. All 120 rooms are fitted with tufted leather chesterfield sofas, rain (and steam!) showers in marble lined bathrooms, and lighting fast gratis wifi. Rooms in saturated, sexy tones are stocked with Marshall speakers and original artwork by Pete Hawkins—a Brit who paints on found objects, such as salvaged floorboards. There’s the on-site member’s club, which only admits visionaries, whether they’re documentary filmmakers or musicians, and houses three restaurants, including BiBo Shoreditch by Dani García. Repeat guests go gaga for the subterranean spa, thanks to its inventive services—Lomi Lomi massages are just the beginning.
You're here because
You have a “thing” for rooftop pools, and this tile mosaic number is arguably the prettiest in the city. It's also constantly heated, so you can swim into the wee hours as the London skyline sparkles beyond.
Sunk into an emerald green velvet settee in Christina's, you’re having a devil of a time deciding what to order on the cocktail menu. Every option, inspired by East London, is too delicious to be believed. But when you spy the Bread & Butter Sazerac—with Johnnie Walker Black, E5 Sourdough, butter and orange bitters, you feel an ancestral urge calling your name. Sip sip.
