The London EDITION

Sleek & sexy

What it is

A warm Ian Schrager–designed hotspot in Fitzrovia.

What it isn't

Studio 54. We've all grown up a bit, but you'll still want to dress sharp.

What we think

If you think the man behind Studio 54 and the Morgan Hotels group turned The London EDITION into a veritable nightclub, you were right—and wrong. Yes, there’s a bar devoted to “Scandal Water” (a.k.a. afternoon tea) and a buzzing lobby bar proffering cocktails by Davide Segat until the wee hours. But as a wing of the Marriott family, it’s also equipped to coddle, and that means more than just turndown service. The 173 cozy, walnut-walled guest rooms are fitted with rain showers, tufted armchairs designed by George Smith and impossibly soft faux fur blankets—should the London rain prompt a chillaxing night in. Don’t be surprised if you spot visiting dignitaries working off the last night’s cocktail hour in the gym.

You're here because

LIke Schrager, your disco days are behind you, but that doesn’t mean you don’t want a lobby with a bit of buzz. Not to mention room service, crisp linens and well-chosen art.

The Moment

Snug in your booth at Chef Jason Atherton’s Berners Tavern, sexily lit and surrounded by walls covered with framed pictures, you’re faced with a consternating choice—do I get the grass-fed Scottish rib-eye, or the butter-roasted Dover sole?

Restaurants & Bars

Berners Tavern - Contemporary British cuisine in an inviting space that highlights its historic charm

Punch Room - A reservation only bar that features music and craft cocktails

Lobby Bar - Conceived for both work and play with drinks by the talented Davide Segat

Location

The Fitzrovia district puts you within a walkable distance of London bucket list sites (though in England, it’s pronounced bouquet): the British Museum, the National Gallery, and Shakespeare’s Globe.
