Negev Desert, Israel
Six Senses Shaharut
What it is
Opening August 2021: a cliffside 60 suite and villa resort with a roster of artful experiences and a heavenly spa.
What it isn't
Parched. Yes, you’re on 46 acres of desert dunes, but there are indoor and outdoor infinity pools; every villa here is fitted with a private pool; and each room has top of the line AC.
What we think
If your bucket list includes riding camels at twilight or dawn, noshing on expertly prepared Mediterranean meals in a Bedouin tent, and taking in the most eye-popping starry skies you’ve ever imagined, check in here and check it all off on one trip. Six Senses Shaharut was designed to highlight the best aspects of the biblically beautiful Negev Desert, and it really does, down to the rooms themselves (built of local rocks and surrounded by indigenous plantings). We love that rooms are as enormous as the view, starting at a whopping 645 square feet; upgrade to a Panorama Pool Villa for your own turquoise infinity pool peeping out on Edom mountain. Either way, your in-room amenities are as luxe as it gets, with Marshall Bluetooth Speakers and flatscreen smart TVs (complete with satellite service), plus yoga mats, walking sticks, and a curated mini bar to raid after your day in the camel saddle.
You're here because
They’ve put together guest exploits that range from jeep safaris and bird watching to dipping in the Red Sea.
Of course Six Senses Shaharut would make the best hummus of your life. But tonight, sitting by the fire under the open rafters in Midian, their main restaurant, it’s the cocktail that’s wowing you, made with a fermented herbal syrup. Has drinking ever felt this healthy? Your soul is being restored, sip by sip.
