Herzliya, Israel
The Ritz-Carlton, Herzliya
Luxury by the Med
What it is
Contemporary waterfront resort in a Tel Aviv suburb.
What it isn't
Directly on the beach — the sand is a short stroll from the front door.
What we think
The 2013 opening of the Ritz was a milestone for the Israeli hotel scene: a true international luxury resort in a sea of corporate chains and local brands. The location is a beachy Tel Aviv suburb known as the Silicon Valley of Israel, letting Ritz-Carlton work its magic on both leisure and business travelers. Whatever the reason for your visit, you’ll appreciate the on-point service (expected from Ritz-Carlton, unusual in Israel). The 197 rooms are flooded with light and furnished in sleek contemporary style; most have terraces with views of the marina and the azure Mediterranean beyond. Herbert Samuel serves an ingredient-driven (and Kosher) menu. There’s a rooftop pool and bar, but the wide, pristine beach just next door is more alluring. The Ritz is the only truly luxury option in the area—though we love Tel Aviv's boutique hotels—and the best resort on Israel’s Mediterranean coast.
You're here because
You want five-star service and amenities, and wish to experience Tel Aviv’s culture, dining and nightlife, but don’t need to be in the middle of the scene.
The Moment
As the sun goes down over the marina, turning Herbert Samuel’s white-slatted screens into a latticework of shadows, the waiter sets down a salad of just-picked tomatoes, glistening like gems.
