Acapulco, Mexico
Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués
Stilted Solace
What it is
A 45-villa luxury resort perched on cliffside oceanfront stilts, with a restful Asian aesthetic and pampering spa.
What it isn't
Tedious. Staffers will happily create magic for you on request, whether you want to come back to your villa to find it twinkling with candles and satin sheets (ooh la la) or have dinner on a private perch over the Pacific Ocean.
What we think
Your first clue that this will be an over-the-top experience happens at booking: There are no rooms here, only villas. And what villas they are, each fitted with king beds, hammocks, and private heated infinity pools that pop against the adjacent jungly exuberance. (It’s worth it, if you’re celebrating something or just living your best life, to upgrade to the Ocean Front Pool Villa for views over the turquoise water that stretch to literally forever). Four on-property restaurants include Saffron, a cliff-hugging Thai joint with note-perfect Tom Yum Goong.
You're here because
It’s the type of place honeymooners flock, and you’re the type of person who won’t let the romance die—even if you’re newly wed to yourself.
The Moment
One reason guests come here again and again is for the spa’s Royal Banyan treatment, impossible to find anywhere else. Once it begins, with an herb and sesame oil pouch massage, Jade face massage and coriander cucumber cleanse, you breathe a joyful sigh—nothing could be better than this.
