Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Mar del Cabo
Secret by the Sea
What it is
A new all-suite retreat on the Sea of Cortez with a lauded organic Mediterranean restaurant.
What it isn't
A gargantuan resort. With just 46 rooms, this is a boutique hotel in all the best ways, from the pristine blue and white tiled pool to the intimate service.
What we think
The problem with all the bottomless activity and food-options at Mexican resorts is that they’re—well—bottomless: the vacation equivalent of Starbucks’ drink menu, when sometimes all you want is coffee, done right. Enter Mar Del Cabo, a new seafront respite where every single room is a suite that’s actually suite: awash in neutral color tones and streamlined furniture, dotted with subtle nods to its locale in the art, colorful textiles and object (yes, that’s driftwood on your sideboard). Ask for a room with a seashell shaped headboard—not even a whiff as cheesy as it sounds—and you’ll feel like a mermaid on a South of the Border getaway.
You're here because
The minimum age for guests is 12, which means you’ll experience slightly fewer cannonball-soaked moments by the pool (unless they’re by your spouse).
The Moment
You’re not ashamed to admit that your favorite thing about vacation is the food. Always the food. And the hotel’s Encanto Restaurant is worthy of a trip alone, helmed by a fiercely locavore chef. On the menu today: dishes that send your heart into palpitations—watermelon salad; brioche-crusted cabrilla in black mole sauce; beignets with cajeta-mezcal sauce—all served on a seafront terrace, the wind in your hair.
Restaurants & Bars
Encanto Restaurant - fresh, organic cuisine inspired by local Baja dishes and coastal Mediterranean fare.
Premium Bar - Top-shelf domestic and international craft beer, a remarkable fine wine list and spirits, with mixology blends and signature cocktails.
Location
Set directly on the sand in Cabo San Lucas, in the prime heart of the fittingly named Tourist Corridor. You’re a hop, skip, or kayak ride away from iconic sights like the Arch of Cabo San Lucas—fount of a billion Instagram likes.
