Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
Auberge Resorts Collection
What it is
A family and wellness-oriented ultra-luxe resort with jaw-dropping activities and the only private beach in Los Cabos.
What it isn't
Lackluster. This is consistently voted among the top hotels in Mexico for good reason.
What we think
You will not hear your children utter those hair-raising words— “I’m bored!”—at Esperanza, where the “experiences” options are as bountiful and addictive as the cocktails and mocktails. They can attend ice cream-making class while you try your hand at ceviche, or attend a mermaid and pirate breakfast while you, a bit jealously, retire to the cliff-front Cocina del Mar for a decidedly grown-up shot of wheatgrass and a pineapple and help seed smoothie bowl. Whatever exploits you choose, you’ll no doubt delight in knowing that every night you’ll retire to some of the loveliest rooms in the region; casitas (starting at 900 square feet) are fitted with private terraces and their own infinity pools. Perk of all perks: staffers treat every guest (even you) like they’d treat Beyonce.
You're here because
You need a spa week but are also desperate for some much-needed FUN (all caps). Esperanza has perfected both, meaning you can be soaking in cleansing ions in an energy scrub before a sunset whale watching safari by boat—complete with a marine biologist aboard.
Reflections of twinkling lanterns and stars above seem to dance like fireflies in the infinity pool by your table at La Palapa, the resort’s fiercely authentic Mexican restaurant. Tonight, a quintet trills Jarabe Tapatio into the night as you tuck into just-caught and ‘cued zarandeado fish, and you think about cancelling your return flight. What’s another week in paradise?

A frothy private beach on the Baja Peninsula, a mere four miles from downtown Cabo San Lucas and a half-hour drive from San Jose Del Cabo International Airport. More importantly, you’re just six miles from the highly photogenic, 115-million-year-old Arch of Cabo San Lucas, where the Pacific Ocean and Sea of Cortez meet.
