Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo

Fresh Face

What it is

On a private jungly peninsula fronting six miles of the Pacific Ocean: a new modernist retreat with two pools, three beaches, two restaurants and a pop-up spa.

What it isn't

Cramped. The resort sprawls sustainably on its own 3,000-acre perch.

What we think

You may never own your own private island (who needs the taxes and upkeep?). But at this exquisite new resort on a pristine, veritably untouched private peninsula in Mexico, you won’t miss it. Guest rooms here maximize an indoor/outdoor lifestyle, and even the most basic starter category—the “Nature Room”—is nothing less than ginormous, with a 710-square-foot floor plan (including a shady terrace with a cotton hammock), separate living quarters, and egg-shaped soaking tub. We’re a bit obsessed with the Cliffside Panoramic One-Bedroom Suite with Infinity Pool for obvious reasons: it’s exactly as postcard-worthy as it sounds, and complete with views of the cerulean ocean lapping against the verdant peninsula and its many coastal islands. This being a Four Seasons, amenities are as luxe as they come: whichever room you book, you’ll have a Nespresso coffee machine and tea kettle, Le Labo toiletries, plush robe and slippers, curated private bar, and topnotch service, including 24-hour room service and twice daily housekeeping.

You're here because

Their iconic seafront links-style golf course was designed by David Fleming, and carefully limits the number of players. Translation: it’s crowd-free, so you’ll feel like you own the place.

The Moment

From your plush outdoor perch at Coyul, helmed by Mexican chef Elena Reygadas, everything is delicious—including the view, which spans over tiers of infinity pools and an infinite ocean.

Restaurants & Bars

Coyul - Start your day with us during breakfast, enjoy our cocktails, light snacks and unmatched sunset views at Coyul Bar, or come for an exceptional dinner experience

Sal - Perched above Majahua Beach, Sal celebrates the barefoot luxury lifestyle with the day’s fresh catches

Nacho - Open for lunch and afternoon snacks, Nacho pays tribute to the flavors and traditions of some of Mexico’s most gastronomically diverse regions

Location

A jungle-swathed peninsula near the fishing town of Manzanilla, less than an hour’s drive from Playa de Oro International Airport. (And yes, the resort staff will happily arrange your transfers…and just say the word if you prefer to arrive by private plane or yacht).
