Azul Talavera Hotel
History Reborn
What it is
Centuries-old structures flanking a leafy courtyard with 78 rooms, a modernist pool, indigenous-inspired spa, and four locally loved restaurants and bars (one on the roof).
What it isn't
Just for humans. Fur-babies get the royal treatment here, too, with pawfect amenities tailored just for them.
What we think
In a UNESCO World Heritage Site like this one—Puebla’s Centro Histórico—it would be an utter shame to stay in a new-build. Thankfully, Azul Talavera Hotel combines ancient bones with the types of modern amenities today’s glitterati required for the best possible stay. Guest rooms are designed to reflect the region; you’ll find artisanal bed linens, carved Colonial era inspired wood, and tinwork touches practically everywhere you look. We like the Deluxe Room for its 495 square foot floor plan, stone walls and a deep soaking tub; the Premier One Bedroom Suite is the one to book if you’re bringing the familia, thanks to its separate living room and dining table with cinematic exposed beams overhead.
You're here because
You love little more than a rooftop pool lined with daybeds; it says “vacay” at a glance.
The Moment
You’ve indulged at plenty of hotel brunches, but nothing wows quite like this one at Pasquinel Bistrot, where the spread is everything you dreamt of and more: Chilaquiles with red sauce, fried frijoles, cream, cheese, coriander? Check. Omelets with goat cheese, corn pudding, and roasted tomato? Check and check. How do you say “divine” in Spanish?
