Cuixmala
A secret, surreal eco-friendly palace
What we think
Skylark only includes hotels that meet our stamp of approval. Our editorial review for this one isn’t ready yet — but we’re working on it! Below is the hotel’s own description.
.
Residing alongside five kilometers of pristine Mexican coastline is the 30,000-acre Chamela-Cuixmala Biosphere Reserve; within this oasis sits the beautiful Cuixmala—Mexico's best-kept secret. First built by Sir James Goldsmith as a private getaway, today this ultra-exclusive, luxe Mexican estate transforms guests to a world where the boundaries between humans and nature are dissolved; the resort has its own wildlife reserve (jaguars, zebras, crocodiles and horses), untouched wild beaches and a working biodynamic farm that produces the freshest fruits and vegetables. Radiating Moorish-inspired design and bright colors throughout its grounds, guests are invited to stay at one of the lovely accommodations, ranging from ocean-view bungalows, beachfront villas to garden-view casitas. The resort also boasts a string of activities ranging from bird spotting, mountain biking, surfing, horseback riding to lagoon tours.
