Punta Maroma, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Chablé Maroma
Jungle Queen
What it is
A brand new collection of seafront jungle villas in the lush and leafy Riviera Maya.
What it isn't
Foreign. The architects deftly used finishes from the region, including xucan and galarza quarried stone and marble.
What we think
You can bet a resort that centers itself around a no-holds-barred spa is worthy of Gwyneth Paltrow and her wellness-obsessed GOOP followers themselves. The second location of Chable must be their mecca. Flanked by a garden of ceiba trees—the bridge that unites heaven with earth, according to the Mayans—the spa is a warren of earthly delights. You may opt to be scrubbed down with clay and tobacco and then massaged with laurel oil and flower petals, for example, or have a copper and amino acid facial that some equate to an all natural face lift. Whatever you chose, you’ll delight in knowing that your casita is every bit as relaxing as the treatment itself, with its indoor/outdoor showers, palm weavings from the local Zyotzinapana people, and private pool terrace.
You're here because
You’re obsessed with being the first to report back to your friends about the latest and greatest, and this place epitomizes the new Riviera Maya.
The Moment
You hate to admit it, but it’s been a while since you watched the sunset. Life gets in the way. (Streaming your latest Netflix binge gets in the way.) Which is part of what makes this particular twilight, on the rooftop Raw Bar by Bu’ul, so transcendent. Well, that and the fresh-caught grilled prawns and crab giving new meaning to addictive. You’ll be back here every night. What tv?
