Palmaia The House of Aia
Wellness that Wows
What it is
An all-inclusive oceanfront 234-room retreat that’s determined to improve your health, with locavore vegan dining options, a holistic spa, and activities like energy healing.
What it isn't
Hurting the earth. Sustainability is paramount here; the resort has zero plastic bottles, protected adjacent mangroves and is on the road to becoming one of the first carbon energy neutral resorts on the planet.
What we think
If Gwyneth Paltrow-types were reincarnated as a Mexican resort, they would be this one: a place where physical wellness and bliss-ed out happiness combine. Guests can indulge in a lengthy list of classes, which include gravity control, hatha yoga, chi kung, cacao ceremonies, handcrafts and ancestral dancing. Want to purify your soul, do tarot cards or cleanse your energy? All you have to do is ask. But if you think this is all too woo woo for luxury, think again. You can book a swim-out suite with direct infinity pool access (and yes, the resort does have AC for those occasional sweltering summer days). Parents love that the resort has also thought of the wellness of children; there’s a Waldorf-inspired kids program, play space and device-free zones for exploring the sand and sea.
You're here because
They have dedicated adults-only guest rooms and an adults-only swimming pool (complete with a mixologist at the bar, natch).
The Moment
You’ve been loving every one of the highbrow on-site restaurants, but tonight you’re feeling like letting your hair down even further…so you proceed directly to the El Caminante Food Truck. Plant-based tacos with your feet in the sand and a sea breeze in your hair…how do you say heavenly in Spanish?
