Kimpton La Peer Hotel
Where Glamor Sleeps
What it is
An art-filled 105-room hideaway with a Midcentury aesthetic, including a sceney outdoor pool, two hip restaurants and rooms that look like they were made for Joni Mitchell.
What it isn't
Lacking treats. True to its Kimpton word, the hotel rolls out the red carpet for guests; expect evening wine hour, loaner bikes, gratis coffee and tea service, plus truly pet friendly status (yep, they’ll bring bowls and cushy dog beds to your room).
What we think
Starlets and business tycoons on the rise may want to book La Peer for its welcoming atmosphere alone…it’s the type of place where dreams flourish. Guest rooms are stocked with all the pampering touches that Kimpton is renowned for, including yoga mats and mini bars that will help you live your best Gwyneth Paltrow life. We love the King Premium rooms with separate soaking tubs and rain showers—they’re cozy at 360 square feet, but truly spa-like. To fully indulge, go for the 750-square-foot Terrace Suite; it has hardwood floors, a sofa bed and Nespresso machine, plus a terrace that’s ideal for sipping the aforementioned Nespresso in a fluffy robe. Be sure to stop in at the buzzing Issima restaurant, where wood fired grills churn out addictive comfort food like fontina, taleggio and thyme pizzas.
You're here because
You’re about to be discovered (you just know it) and need a pool where you can see and be seen. This olive tree-flanked heated outdoor pool is definitely the lewk.
The Moment
Even in Lalaland, you’re not the type to skip breakfast—which is why the decadent options at Design Lounge are so appealing. Will you have the smoked salmon bagel and cream cheese with pickled onions and capers? The aptly named Tears of Joy waffles with strawberries? Or the caprese omelet? The morning is young; you may go for all three.
