Covid-19 - What you should know

Skylark’s advisor team is here to support you. Travel is tricky right now and planning isn’t always straightforward, but our team of advisors is here to assist in every way we can.

What it is

An opulent resort with a Mediterranean feel, in the heart of 90210.

What it isn't

Frilly or feminine: The decor is elegant but on the masculine side.

What we think

Despite being one of the younger hotels on the block—it opened in 2008 as Montage Beverly Hills—the Spanish Revival–style Maybourne Beverly Hills evokes a grander time. A Mediterranean-style elegance prevails, from the hand-painted arched ceilings and fruitwood floors to the murals made from handcrafted Portuguese tiles. The 201 guestrooms and 55 suites are oversized with crown moldings and vintage art, and have plenty of decadent touches: shaving mirrors inset in the showers, electronic drapery controls so you don’t need to leave bed to enjoy the morning view. (Larger rooms have balconies overlooking Beverly Hills.) The vast, two-floor spa houses a mosaic-tiled atrium with mineral pools and a fireplace, and offers facial and skin treatments from Swiss beauty firm L.Raphael. The poolside Rooftop Grill serves farmer’s market-sourced plates and snacks all day. There's also a branch of Scarpetta, Scott Conant's New York Italian restaurant, afternoon tea and a "secret" whisky bar, £10, that specializes in Macallan single malts. Service throughout is excellent, from the top-hatted doormen to the pool boys offering Evian mistings and glasses of rosé.

You're here because

You plan to do some serious damage on Rodeo Drive—and want to be cosseted in an urban resort setting when you return.

The Moment

Walking out to your balcony in the warm California air, you look out at sparkling hills and a darkening violet sky. Los Angeles spreads out in every direction. Your partner joins you with a glass of wine from the living room’s selection—the evening is off to a wonderful start.
