Sunset Tower Hotel

Hollywood Star

What it is

A storied 1929 legend with glossy Deco interiors, a Joanna Vargas spa, and a rooftop pool and sceney restaurant.

What it isn't

Just for humans. Pets are pampered like Oscar winners with Sunset Tower-branded beds, bowls and snacks; they also get to roam adjacent William S. Hart Park.

What we think

Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, John Wayne...they weren’t just former guests here, they were former residents. When starchitect Leland A. Bryant built the Sunset Tower, it was a celeb magnet from the start. Today, boldfaced names are drawn here for way more than its iconic status. Take the ultra-luxe Art Deco guest rooms, each fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows, Egyptian cotton sheets, original artwork and custom furniture, gourmet mini bars, and Nespresso machines. Or the pool, where you can nosh on lobster tacos and antioxidant berry smoothies from your umbrella-shrouded daybed, or take in the cityscape from the travertine-floored lanai. In short: if you don’t have megawatt star status yet, you’ll definitely feel like you do.

You're here because

The walnut-paneled Tower Bar and Restaurant was once the private apartment of mobster Bugsy Siegel—i.e. the man that invented Las Vegas.

The Moment

Your shoulders instantly drop when you enter the Joanna Vargas spa—it’s that serene. And once your high-tech treatments begin (including a “Power Nap” in a full-body LED light bed and an oxygen facial), you feel as light and carefree as the seagull you saw circling over the pool this morning.

Location

On Sunset Boulevard, just a few blocks from Chateau Marmont and Stahl House, the 1959 Mid Century modernist home that launched a thousand break-the-internet Instagram posts.

Restaraunts & Bars

Tower Bar - While the cuisine takes its inspiration from northern Italy and the French bistro, the overall accent is distinctly Californian, with a focus on fresh local ingredients. Also available are cocktails and poolside cabanas.
