What we think

Chocoholics know a good thing when they see it. And Fairmont Heritage Place, which is tucked within the former 19th century Ghirardelli Chocolate Factory, is a good thing. Delicious, in fact. That begins in the guest rooms, which are more akin to private residences: you’ll find exposed brick walls, fireplaces, and ginormous living rooms with tricked out kitchens and dining spaces. (Making this all the more pampering, especially for families? The fact that each and every bedroom in your apartment has its own en-suite bathroom). The Two Bedroom Bay View Residence has a 1,200 square foot footprint; if you’re traveling with more than a couple people, we find the 1,800 square foot Three Bedroom Residence is well worth the indulgence. The San Francisco treat, indeed.

You knew they’d have chocolate on the menu at the hotel’s waterfront restaurant, McCormick & Kuleto’s Seafood and Steaks, but you never expect it to taste like edible silk: the chocolate silk pie, mousse topped with raspberry sauce and seasonal berries, is so transcendent it was worth the trip alone.
