What we think
San Francisco visitors may feel slightly cramped—thanks to precipitous hills, the city by the bay doesn’t have the same seemingly boundless sprawl of a San Diego or L.A. But the moment you step foot in your room you can breathe a sigh of relief: even the most “basic” (though it’s anything but) of digs here starts at 460-square-feet, with steely and metallic interior design that jibes with the cityscape glimmering beyond your windows. Comfort is paramount; note the down pillows and duvets, refrigerated bar, fluffy terry-cloth robes and housekeeping that shows up to primp twice a day (including turndown). We love that the hotel’s restaurant, MKT, is as locavore as they come, drawing from regional farms for its California-inspired dishes.
