Dunton Hot Springs
What it is
An 1800s ghost town reborn as a Ralph Lauren-worthy getaway, with original log cabins-turned luxury guest rooms and bicarbonate hot springs on site.
What it isn't
Ye olde west. Sure, there’s lots of exposed wood beams and animal hides. But guests can also take guided hikes of 14ers, indulge in fine art classes, take archaeological day tours, fly fish private waters, Nordic ski…and plenty of other treats John Wayne wouldn’t recognize.
What we think
When “Emily in Paris” actress Lily Collins got married, the superfamous star—with a whopping 27 million Instagram followers—selected Dunton Hot Springs as the place for her “I do’s.” And no wonder. It’s as romantic as they come. Guests can opt to stay everywhere from a Well House (stocked with its own wood burning stove, private hot spring and even a cold plunge) to Potter House, a 1,950-square-foot retreat with a wraparound deck, kitchen and living area. Be sure to book at least one treatment (beyond a steep) at the spa, where customized CBD massages and luminous vitamin C boost facials are just the beginning….and no doubt, Collins was there.
You're here because
You’ve seen enough western movies to know the *actual * Old West isn’t for you. But this totally pampering version of it? Yes, please.
At the communal antique table in the saloon, you’ve realized menus invented daily—as the chef’s do here, based on the region’s current bounty—are the only way to go. Your favorite dish tonight? Local Bountiful Ridge pork with charred leek grits and preserved green apricots. Aaah.
