The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa, Avon, Vail Valley
What it is
A ginormous lodge presiding over 19 acres on the Eagle River, with a 27,000-square-foot gym and spa, outdoor saline pool, and restaurant helmed by a James Beard Award nominee.
What it isn't
Just for summer and ski season. Thrills abound here year-round with rotating seasonal activities like river rafting, fly fishing, hiking with naturalists, snowmobiling, sleigh rides to sumptuous dinners…shall we go on?
What we think
Many hotel brands indulge in wellness goals…but Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa lives up to them. Eat Well Menus developed by teams of doctors, dieticians, dentists and more ensure the youngest guests get nutrition boosts with each meal; an on-site juicery gives you a surge of vitamins that’s imperative post-flight; and more than 60 group fitness classes are offered in the TechnoGym-stocked fitness rooms every week. Guest rooms are just as carefully planned to maximize your comfort, with spacious floor plans and even fireplaces and kitchenettes in the suites. Expect pampering and luxury at every turn, including 24-hour-room service, iPod docking stations, marble-lined bathrooms, and even grocery shopping service.
You're here because
The hotel has a Starbucks on-site, and you are admittedly an addict. Bonus: it’s adjacent to the Riverfront Express Gondola, which means your first runs are sure to shred.
You love a new restaurant helmed by a star chef, and Stoke & Rye—with Richard Sandoval manning the kitchen—is truly top shelf. Local Colorado bounty is the dish du jour, here: including Colorado lamb chops and mountain trout crudo with trout roe.
