Viceroy Washington DC

Outsized Luxury

What it is

A new 178-room retreat on Logan Circle, with a rooftop pool and bar plus a coffee shop the locals can’t get enough of.

What it isn't

Equipped with its own spa. But few people come to D.C. to chillax; you’re a doer. (Which is why, yes, the hotel has a topnotch 24-hour gym and free yoga classes).

What we think

The problem with many of the more historic hideaways in D.C? Postage-stamped sized rooms. That may have worked for James Madison—who clocked in at 5’ 4”—but doesn’t for today’s politicos, who need space to unwind after stressful days on the Hill. Viceroy Washington DC says they have some of the roomiest guest rooms in the district; their King rooms hover around 425 square feet. For an even larger free-range space, book a Viceroy King Suite; they begin at 600 square feet and have an extra powder room and living room that’s more than ready for some elbow-rubbing guests, thanks to a corner sectional and conversation-starting art pieces. Whichever room you pick, you’ll be treated to 400-thread-count Frette linens; a voice-controlled virtual concierge from Google NestHubs; and bath toiletries from ROIL, by British salon legend Amanda George. Nab breakfast each morning at BPM Coffee & Wine—where the Francophile cafe whips up an addictive creme brulee latte.

You're here because

You think the only thing better than a rooftop pool is one with its own bar; this one has perfected the art of the breezy cocktail (get the La Reine, with charred pineapple rum, caramelized banana and chili dust).

The Moment

Your plan today is to do a Smithsonian Crawl and see as many Smithsonians as you can squeeze into a walking tour...possibly all 19, if you make it snappy. So this morning at BPM, you’re fueling up hard: with a florentine ham, egg and swiss ciabatta sandwich and an Americano.

Restaurants & Bars

BPM Coffee & Wine - offers artisanal specialty coffee, gourmet tea, house-baked goods, and grab 'n' go items for breakfast and lunch, and on Fridays and Saturdays, BPM turns into a wine bar, serving wine, beer, and snacks

Dovetail (Coming Soon) - contemporary bar and restaurant offering locally sourced small plates, along with craft brews, local spirits, and bespoke cocktails

Hush Rooftop Bar (Coming Soon) - offers shared plates and a selection of specialty cocktails, wine, and beer, in an intimate setting with city views

Location

Just two blocks from Logan Circle, and a 17 minute walk from The White House. While you’re here, stop in at the International Spy Museum—where you’ll receive a secret identity and hush-hush undercover mission.
