West Palm Beach, Florida
White Elephant Palm Beach
New Sea Star
What it is
A newly-opened 32-room respite that took over a 1924 Mediterreanean stucco hotel, with nautical interiors, a lush pool courtyard and pop art at every turn.
What it isn't
Phoning it in. Amenities include loaner wheels of all types, from BMW’s to Radio Flyers, plus Barton & Gray yachts.
What we think
The White Elephant has been the pride of Nantucket since the 1920s, and it was about time it flew south for the winter. The brand’s new Palm Beach outpost has all the charm of the original paired with thoroughly modern updates, including sculptural furniture and Lola 41, a restaurant that’s as famed for its sushi as it is for its foie gras sauce-topped burger. Rooms are fitted with ultra-luxe amenities—including Pratesi Linens, L’Occitane bath products and Nespresso coffee machines; book the 3-bedroom Park Suite for your own 1,200-square-foot rooftop terrace that has a full kitchen, dining room and sweeping seagull’s-eye-views of Palm Beach and the frothy sea.
You're here because
You’ve gotten used to traveling like Beyonce, and the poolside indulgences here are many: you’ll be treated to gratis sunscreen, fruit and water bubblers, hourly snacks, and all the borrowed magazines and books you can handle.
You’re zonked after a day on the sand, and nothing sounds better than room service and a night cuddled up in your signature White Elephant robe. Theirs is a room service menu like none other. Your dinner of choice? A lobster napoleon salad with Florida coast baby greens, mango carpaccio and truffle herb vinaigrette, plus the aptly named Hangover Burger, served with bacon and egg on a brioche bun. Welcome to Nirvana.
