Atlanta, Georgia
Kimpton Sylvan Hotel
Mid Century Marvel
What it is
A garden-flanked 1952 high-rise transformed into an artful 217-room boutique hotel, with an al fresco pool, evening social hour, loaner bikes, and a locally beloved rooftop bar.
What it isn't
Just for bipeds. Kimpton hotels famously cater to pets with fluffy dog beds, bowls, and even concierge advice on pooch-friendly restaurants.
What we think
They’ve thought of every luxury at this art-stocked Kimpton outpost, where rooms of every type are fitted with Frette linens, Bluetooth speakers, Atelier Bloem toiletries, and yoga mats. Options start at a cozy 265 square feet for an Essential 1 King; upgrade to a Premium 1 King with City View for a 360 square foot floor plan and a birdseye panorama of Atlanta’s particularly glittering skyline. Either way, you’ll find your room Instagram-ready, with Art Deco-inspired flourishes like rounded mirrors and graphic avocado-hued tile. Don’t miss a throwback dinner at The Betty, a supper club where dishes like beef cheek stroganoff and baby beet salad with chicory and pistachio butter actually sing.
You're here because
You love a rooftop bar at sunset, and this one, on the 9th floor, serves fancified comfort food—like BLT sliders and gouda and green chile-topped corn-dogs.
The Moment
Hidden away in the hotel’s leafy garden courtyard, Willow Bar is sort of like the 1911 novel The Secret Garden, remade for adults. Where but here can you sip a white peach bellini or strawberry infused aperol spritz in a palm-shrouded nook?
