Atlantans need a break, y’all. Which is why this particular gem of a resort is so delightful. Every day here is a Dream day, with a capital D—whether you spend the morning hopping between the dry sauna and steam room in the spa or walloping sporting clays (perhaps an even better form of stress release) on the 100-acre, century old pecan orchard at Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds. Ask for a Fireside Lake View room for a 463-square foot space complete with its own flickering gas fire pit on your lakefront patio, and you won’t regret it. (Larger groups will benefit from booking a cottage or lake house, many with stone verandas and wrap-around porches).

With the resort’s Chiminea Dining program, you and your spouse, family, or new special friend can treat yourselves to a three course dinner all by your lonesome at lake’s edge—on adirondack chairs, with your own flickering bonfire before you. The crab deviled eggs with Old Bay seasoning are the best you’ve ever had—as they say ‘round these parts, “Slap Yo Momma Good.”
