Fairmont Copley Plaza

Storied Stunner

What it is

The grande dame of Boston’s Back Bay since 1912, with 383 luxe rooms and a storied brasserie.

What it isn't

Poorly serviced. The hotel is renowned for its pampering staff; book a Fairmont Gold room for access to a private club lounge complete with gratis hors d’oeuvres, breakfast and more.

What we think

Boston’s history is palpable on every single street, which is why staying in a hotel that’s been beloved by generations is practically required. And while Fairmont Copley Plaza is more than a century old (everyone from Elvis Presley to President Theodore Roosevelt have stayed here), it’s not stuffy, thanks to recently revamped guest rooms in a palette of blues and silvers, and high-tech touches Boston founding fathers Samuel Adams and his ilk could only imagine, including STAYCAST streaming on your own devices, 46” LCD flat screens, digital safes, and Keurig coffee makers. Because starter rooms can feel somewhat cozy (starting at 250-square-feet), we recommend booking a Signature Room, especially if you’re traveling with kids. They’re 390 square feet and, bonus, have sweeping views of Copley Square park.

You're here because

The hotel gym is so tricked out that they even have loaner Reebok gear they can deliver before your workout—which you’re planning on doing every day, thanks to your predilection for lobster rolls. Don’t miss the outdoor deck overlooking the city skyline.

The Moment

Food just tastes better in historic watering holes, like OAK Long Bar + Kitchen. Perched in your tufted bar stool under a coffered ceiling, you order what you imagine former guest Elvis might: a banana old fashioned, with maker’s mark bourbon, giffard banana du bresil, and chocolate bitters.

Restaurants & Bars

OAK Long Bar + Kitchen - open for all day dining, this restaurant offers a fresh, farm-to-table menu featuring locally inspired ingredients

Location

Set directly across from Copley Plaza in Boston’s Back Bay, just a four block walk from Boston Common and the start of the Freedom Trail (touristy, yes, but an absolute must).
