Covid-19 - What you should know

Skylark’s advisor team is here to support you. Travel is tricky right now and planning isn’t always straightforward, but our team of advisors is here to assist in every way we can.

What it is

Newly born out of the 1929 former Fire Department HQ, with 100 artful rooms and sceney restaurants.

What it isn't

Tasteless. Did we mention the chef helming those eateries is two Michelin-starred Thomas Lents?

What we think

Hipsters flock to Detroit so they can hang in spots just like this: both ineffably cool and exceedingly welcoming. Take the guest rooms, which are adorned as if for the pages of Architectural Digest’s Detroit Issue: sparkling woodwork, powdery blue velvet furniture, ceilings that seem to touch the sky, industrial light fixtures. Much of it was made right here in Detroit, including the iron-welded door handles, leather trays and even the wallpaper; hit the mini bar for a stash of locally-curated tipples. Whether you opt for a Foundation King room or the Commissioner's Suite (complete with a pool table), you’ll have amenities that make you feel like you’re at home, including loaner Detroit Bikes, Netflix-equipped televisions and same-day laundry and dry-cleaning.

You're here because

In the city that birthed the automobile, this should come as no surprise: the hotel offers comped house car service for three-mile jaunts with brand new Lincoln Continentals and Lincoln Navigators.

The Moment

You’re addicted to podcasts, so when you found out the hotel has its own podcast studio complete with a Shinola Runwell Turntable, you thought you’d record your own. And why not? It’s Fun with a capital F.

Restaurants & Bars

- The Apparatus Room

- Chef's Table

Location

In Detroit’s Financial District, two blocks from the Detroit River (which divides the U.S. and Canada.) Culture vultures love that the hotel is within 12 blocks walk of Fox Theatre, a 1928 Asian-inspired movie palace that will literally drop your jaw.
