Kansas City, Missouri
The Raphael Hotel
An Autograph Collection Hotel
What it is
A fanciful 1928 icon in Italian Renaissance Revival style, with intricate tile murals, a locally beloved restaurant, and topnotch service (including valet and a doorman).
What it isn't
All about the barbecue. The fitness center awaits with Precor equipment to keep you on top of your regime, even when traveling.
What we think
The 126 guest rooms here are as artful as they come, with painterly headboards that double as in-room artwork, mahogany furnishings, and abundant luxurious touches—including pillowtop mattresses, deep soaking tubs, and sumptuous 300 thread count sheets. But to feel like you’re a Kansas City local, we recommend the Premier Suite; it has a fully separate living room that looks out on the cityscape and a jetted tub in the spa-like bathroom you’ll never want to get out of. Be sure to take advantage of the hotel’s peerless service, including room-service, shoe shines and turndown on request.
You're here because
The hotel has live music in the Chaz Lounge nightly, including some of the best jazz duos in town…all wonderfully accompanied by cocktails like the peach and pint moscow mule.
You heard about the Chaz’s iconic weekend brunch long before you checked in, and it lives up to the hype. Where else can you tuck into Kobe beef brisket that’s been smoked for 12 hours, a short stack of vanilla pancakes and brown sugar crusted cinnamon apple French toast in one breathtaking spread?
