Wynn Las Vegas And Encore

Elevated elegance on the Strip

What it is

The flagship of the Wynn properties: it’s Las Vegas-style elegance.

What it isn't

A theme hotel where the definition of lush has nothing to do with luscious.

What we think

The reflective glass facade is curved like ticket clutched in someone’s hand. The almost 50 floors soar into the huge Las Vegas sky, anchored at the base by a man-made mountain, an 18-hole golf course. The hotel is flush with the motifs of Wynn properties: water is flowing in streams, fountains, many pools and a lake; a bounty of fresh and artificial flora isn’t just contained to opulent bouquets, but rather trees and flowers construct whole hallways of whimsical promenading. There is also the curious absence of casino ruckus - the 2,000 slots and 100 tables of the hotel are removed from the entrance, in favor of being tucked away and out of the lobby. Throughout the hotel, there is a rather extensive and acclaimed list of both fine and casual restaurants to choose from. Notable amongst them. Enjoy sitting lakeside where guests are privy to choreographed music and light shows. Inside the hotel, the rooms and suites (2,716 of them) are bright, but calming: a welcome calm from the city’s over-saturated color. Floor to ceiling windows adds to the recessed lighting and table lamps, brightening up the palette of sandy neutrals. Attention is paid to the smaller details: the furniture isn’t the default basics that a lot of Las Vegas accommodations favor - here there are prints of classic art that add a small, tasteful pop of color.

You're here because

In Las Vegas, you’re looking for an option that isn’t part of the city’s less-than-lovely reputation. The Wynn has acclaimed food, a refined air, and still manages to offer an incredible sense that you’ve arrived in Vegas.

The Moment

The table at Lakeside sparkles under all of the glass and silver. As sommelier quietly tops off glasses, a man pushes a display case of monster lobsters to the table. Perched on individual pedestals, they swing their claws with lazy indifference. After you select the beautifully blue one, he whisks the display away - at that moment, the waterfall lights up and two orbs skate across the shimmering surface of the lake. A show is about to begin.
