Four Seasons Encantado

Enchanted Idyll

What it is

A restorative 65-room hideaway on 57 acres of former dude ranch, with a serene indigenous-inspired spa.

What it isn't

Seasonal. Amenities like the outdoor pool, shuttle to downtown and fire pit overlooking the mountains operate year-round.

What we think

They don’t call New Mexico the “Land of Enchantment” for nothing, and Four Seasons kicks it up a notch further. Charms abound here, from the spa (where local Puebloan treatments given in kiva-style rooms use New Mexican ingredients, such as adobe and blue corn) to the rooms themselves, each of which is tricked out with a soaking tub, fireplace and patio tailor-made for star-gazing. Santa Fe locals book tables at the restaurant, Terra, weeks in advance for special occasions, because they do fine dining right: you can tuck into dishes like coriander crusted scallop with candied bacon and parsnip puree or adovado rubbed bison with stone potatoes by a flickering gas fire.

You're here because

Curated activities on offer include daily (and free) guided hikes into the photogenic, aspen-studded mountains on the Camino Encantado Trail.

The Moment

It has been a week/month/year. Which is why the spa here is such a necessary godsend. Swaddled in your robe, chillaxing before the fire, you consider opting for one of their more woo-woo treatments (a tourmaline gemstone facial) before booking the tried and true: a blue corn and wildflower honey scrub and massage. Heaven really is a place on earth.

Restaurants & Bars

The Bar -Cosy up with a cocktail.
