Brooklyn, New York
1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge
Cool and Conscientious
What it is
Smart luxury in Dumbo.
What it isn't
Buttoned-up. If man buns offend you, the exit is to your left (past the living wall).
What we think
The apotheosis of “woke” hospitality, 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge encapsulates the borough’s hip-but-mindful ethos while delivering a sophisticated hotel stay. Rooms glow with a fresh, urban elegance, thanks to reclaimed-wood furniture, open-slatted closets, warm lighting and architectural blackened steel. Floor-to-ceiling sliding windows offer inspiring views over the East River, the hotel’s namesake bridge, and the spires of Lower Manhattan. Downstairs, Neighbors offers on-trend eats like avocado toast, smoothies, and kale-and-grain bowls; a signature restaurant is in the works, as is a spa. Be sure to check out the Anish Kapoor scultpure in the garden and the esplanades in adjacent Brooklyn Bridge Park. The 1 Hotel brand’s commitment to eco-sensitive hospitality is in abundant evidence: The mattresses are hemp, the water triple-filtered, and the entire property runs on wind power. But what might feel dogmatic in other locations feels perfectly natural in Brooklyn.
