Midtown, New York City
Aman New York
Serenity And The City
What it is
An ultra-luxe new hotel tucked within the iconic 1921 Crown Building, with 83 restful suites, a three-story spa, and exquisite restaurants.
What it isn't
Colorful. The interior palette is mostly sands, charcoals, and whites…which makes it as calming as Gotham gets.
What we think
It must have been difficult for a brand known for expansive retreats on rural lands to bring the feeling of wide open spaces to New York City, but they’ve achieved perfection. Even the “starter” room category is larger than the average Manhattan apartment at 815-895 square feet, and stocked with the kinds of things that would leave most New Yorkers swooning with delight, including ink-painted screen reproductions of pine tree murals by 16th century painter Hasegawa Tohaku, flickering fireplaces and oval soaking tubs and marble rain showers in the spa-like bathrooms. Traveling with friends or en famille? Book a Corner Suite. They have multiple bedrooms to suit your needs, walk-in closets, and living rooms that look sleek enough for a modern James Bond, complete with a romantic flickering fireplace. (Bond just may want to move in when he’s done gallivanting; the hotel has 22 private homes and a five-story penthouse within the premises.)
You're here because
The indoor pool is totally transportive—flanked by daybeds and fire pits.
The Moment
You’ve indulged in omakase before, but something about Aman’s version—served on a Japanese Hinoki wood counter—makes it even more alluring than anything you’ve had in Tokyo.
