Four Seasons New York

Landmarked Luxury

What it is

Designed by starchitect I.M. Pei, with 368 exquisite rooms with a view and restaurants that delight even in Manhattan.

What it isn't

Only for workaholics. Yes, this is the city that never sleeps, and yes, the hotel is prepped with business amenities galore, but there’s also an indulgent spa by L. Raphael.

What we think

We once spotted Victoria Beckham dining under the indoor African acacia trees at The Garden, which tells you something about the street cred of Four Seasons New York: this hotel can charm even the most discerning of guests. Repeat guests rave over the rooms, each one enormous by Manhattan standards (starting at 500-square-feet) and fitted with ultra-luxe details, including Japanese tamo ash furniture, curved televisions, custom 100% Tai Ping wool carpets, wood paneling hewn of England-grown sycamore and Bvlgari amenities in the Breccia Oniciata marble-lined bathrooms. Did we mention the soaking tub fills up in two minutes? To use the phrase often repeated in these parts, time is money. If you’re feeling particularly celebratory, book the Central Park Suite with Terrace; the al fresco hangout spot is nothing short of cinematic, with jaw-dropping views of the cityscape.

You're here because

It’s exactly the type of family-friendly hotel the Beckham’s might bring their brood, thanks to children’s welcome amenities, babysitting, coloring books and toys and concierge’s that are well-versed in planning all-ages exploits around the city.

The Moment

Afternoon tea is something of a tradition whenever you’re in New York, but you’ve never been as delighted as you are with the one at Ty Bar, which seems fit for Queen Elizabeth herself. After your smoked salmon and osetra caviar sandwiches, you have a vanilla scone with clotted cream and strawberry rhubarb jam...and a sip of “tea” (a Bee Cuz cocktail, with tea-infused gin, spiced honey and a dusting of chamomile flowers). Pinkies out, darling.

Location

In the heart of Midtown’s Billionaire’s Row, just three blocks from Central Park and within walking distance of every other must-see sight on the island: Bergdorf Goodman, MoMA, and The Frick Collection, where Old Master paintings are tucked inside an industrialist's 1914 Upper East Side estate.
