Meatpacking District, New York City
Soho House New York
What it is
Attached to the members only club, this 44-room hotel is an insider fave: with storybook rooms, an infamous Sunday Feast, intimate spa, and sceney rooftop pool.
What it isn't
Forgetting that it’s a New Yorker. Walls here are hung with curated, head-turning art by boldface names ranging from Jenny Holzer to Richard Prince.
What we think
When Sex and the City’s cast were handed their walking papers for trying to sneak into a members-only pool in season six, this was it: Soho House. So like SJP herself, the hotel is already a New York Legend, on par with The Plaza…only arguably geared toward a younger, more stylish clientele. Guest rooms are a bit like fairytales from Europe transported to the Meatpacking District, with their exposed beams overhead, blonde wood floors, arched windows and custom furniture. We feel right at home in the 250 square foot Cosy room, thanks to Marshall Bluetooth speakers, a rainforest shower, flatscreen, and zippy free Wifi. The Big rooms are indulgent and true to their namesake, with plush sitting areas and, often, dazzling crystal chandeliers hung within their 700 square foot floor plans.
You're here because
Dogs are not allowed, and it’s not exactly geared towards families. Translation: quiet bliss.
In the dining room, you feel instantly like a card-carrying member of the illustrious Soho House club—especially after a bite of your acorn-fed Iberian pork steak, served alongside cranberry port relish.
