Bridgehampton, New York
Topping Rose House
Foodie Fave
What it is
A new 22-room gem in an 1842 private home, with a heated outdoor pool and locavore Jean-Georges restaurant.
What it isn't
Artless. The hotel is as well-curated as a Chelsea gallery, with a collection put together by gallerist Christine Wächter that includes works by Margeaux Walter and Ed Cohen.
What we think
Hamptons-bound New Yorkers squealed with delight in their sun hats when Topping Rose House opened. Not that the restaurants Out East left anything to be desired, but Jean-Georges takes things to the next level (currently on the menu: roasted Maine lobster with carrot-habanero emulsion and 28-day dry aged ribeye for two, with habanero hot sauce butter). Guest rooms are no less extraordinary, as noted by the boldfaced-name brands you’ll find in them: Matouk (towels); Frette (bed linens); Chadsworth & Haig (robes); and Farmaesthetics (toiletries). Then, there’s the service: you can customize your mini bar before arrival, and there’s 24-hour room service for those 3 a.m. jaunts to the beach under the full moon.
You're here because
Their concierges will curate your entire trip just as you like it, whether you want to hit the links at Sag Harbor Golf Club, ride horses at Mecox Bay Farm, or hike the 187-acre seafront Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge.
The Moment
“Natural Beauty” is one of your favorite phrases these days, so you’re delighted to see the Topping Rose spa embraces all things herbal and granola—and exclusively uses Farmaesthetics in their treatments. This afternoon, after hours of poolside lounging, you’re feeling like a reset. Their Swedish massage is exactly what the doctor ordered (with handmade herbal oils, no less). You emerge as if from the chrysalis, just in time for cocktail hour.
