The Point

Adirondack Amazement

What it is

A lakeside all-inclusive Gilded Age icon that’s a de facto Ralph Lauren ad sprung to life, with 11 magazine-worthy guest rooms and exceptional activities.

What it isn't

For children (or anyone under 21). This is very much a special occasion retreat for deep-pocketed couples, with all the decidedly grown-up trappings that come with it (especially blissful: no TVs or cell service).

What we think

If you’ve ever stayed at a Relais & Chateaux member property, you know it’s the equivalent of nabbing the Queen’s Royal Warrant: they’re absolute perfection, at every turn. The Point was reportedly the first stateside hotel to receive the honor, and no wonder: this is arguably the most storybook retreat in the region, the type of place you’d want to check in and stay for weeks. Built by the Rockefeller family as a 75-acre estate on Saranac Lake, The Point is still as tycoon-ready as ever, from the boats (mahogany, and buffed to a high sheen) to the decor (you’ll see paintings by Winslow Homer and Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait, among others). Every guest room is a unique gem, but we’re partial to the Mohawk, with its soaring exposed beam ceiling, fieldstone fireplace, waterfall shower, and private fire pit replete with a hammock. Whichever room you select, one thing is certain: you’ll likely join longtime guests who love that everything—and we mean everything—is included, the key to a fuss-free getaway.

You're here because

The Point is truly dog friendly; you can bring your four-legged fam at no additional charge, yet they’ll be pampered every bit as much as paying guests.

The Moment

It’s not often you find an all-inclusive resort restaurant Michelin-star worthy, but then, you’ve never stayed at The Point before. Chef Loic Leperlier has spent nearly two decades in Michelin-starred kitchens from Europe to French Polynesia, and it’s no wonder it shows in every plate.

Restaurants & Bars
