The Oaklander Hotel
An Autograph Collection Hotel
What it is
A glamorous retreat with a French brasserie, peerless service, and curated events ranging from jazz brunches to aged rum socials.
What it isn't
Equipped with a spa or pool. Honestly, in a space this beautifully designed, you won’t miss them.
What we think
No detail was too small for the masterminds behind The Oaklander’s plush guest rooms. Turkish cotton linens and robes? Check. Rainfall showerheads and Le Labo toiletries? Check and check. Amenities also include Tivoli bluetooth speakers, Nespresso machines, smart TVs and zippy free wifi. We love the deep blue, cloud white and caramel toned color palette in each room; it makes all spaces feel sprawling (even the 324 square foot Standard King guest rooms). Our favorite room options? The Studio Suite, which has floor to ceiling corner windows that peer out on the circa 1936 Cathedral of Learning, and the 930 square foot Presidential Suite—stocked with a clawfoot tub in the primary bath and a separate living space that was tailor-made for cocktail hour.
You're here because
The hotel offers room service from its topnotch, locavore Spirits + Tales brasserie. Translation: you can order grapefruit brulee with smoked rosemary in bed.
The Moment
Cuddled up in your cobalt armchair at Spirits + Tales, you feel like you’re undercover for Michelin. The menu is entrancing here, from the hand-shucked east coast oysters in champagne mignonette to the wagyu burger with caramelized onions and raclette cheese on brioche.

Location
Abutting the University of Pittsburgh campus, three blocks from the Carnegie Museum of Art—a monumental Renaissance Revival structure built circa 1895 and stocked with Carnegie’s own collection of Pisarros, Homers, Hoppers, and more.
