Newport, Rhode Island

Seaworthy Style
What it is
Classically appointed yet modern, this waterside hotel has all you need for the ultimate Newport getaway: including six hopping bars and restaurants and a busy marina.
What it isn't
Equipped with its own pool and spa. But fronting the glimmering water, beside bobbing luxury yachts, you won’t miss them.
What we think
Newport has been a coveted retreat for the well-heeled since the Gilded Age, and that hasn’t changed. What’s not to love in a place where storybook estates are open to the public (don’t miss The Breakers, built circa 1895 by Cornelius Vanderbilt II) and local extracurriculars include training for America’s Cup? Guest rooms here are worthy of any robber baron, with their flickering gas fireplaces, wet bars, sitting alcoves perfect for reading your loaner iPad, and mosaic-lined rainfall showers with Malin + Goetz toiletries. Floor plans start at 335 square feet; for even more room to roam, we recommend the 420 square foot Harbor View Suite for its private balcony, Frette bed linens, and a deep soaking tub that (comfortably) seats two. Vacation, indeed.
You're here because
The hotel has so many dining options right on site, including the dockside Grill, where the menu includes a teetering seafood tower complete with lobster and a 45 day dry-aged Tomahawk ribeye steak.
The Moment
After a day on the water, you’re ready to slip into something more comfortable: the hotel’s Library bar, where you can kick back with a billiards game by the fire with a truly topnotch martini. If only Vanderbilt had it this good.
