Charleston, South Carolina
The Spectator Hotel
Southern Charmer
What it is
A Deco-inspired retreat renowned for its sumptuous service (yes, there are butlers), speakeasy, loaner bikes, and in-room continental breakfasts gourmands love.
What it isn't
Stocked with its own spa. But with staff so doting you’ll receive a complimentary cocktail at check-in, who needs one?
What we think
Charleston, South Carolina has long been pure eye candy: a place where pastel-hued Georgian and Greek Revival estates and live oaks dripping with lacey Spanish moss line the streets. No wonder they call this dazzling hotel in the heart of it all The Spectator: it’s the type of place you go to see and be seen. Guest rooms are appropriately luxe; the “starting” option is anything but, with its complimentary mini bar of curated snacks and tipples; 400 square foot floor plan; Carrera marble-lined bathroom (including a heated towel rack); locally made Southern Lady mattress; Nespresso machine; chocolate liquor at turndown…should we go on? Our favorite room, though, is the Premier Balcony Suite for its wraparound balcony overlooking the storied cityscape, an ideal place to call the Butler for a cuppa.
You're here because
You want to feel pampered on vacay, and the hotel staff are total pros. Each and every guest feels like a very very V.I.P.
The Moment
After a day of exploring the cobblestoned streets, you’re thrilled to head back to the hotel’s Speakeasy Bar for cocktail hour. One bite of your champagne poached pear flatbread and Gunslinger cocktail (made with private label Woodford Reserve bourbon) and you’re in heaven, not Charleston. Or maybe they’re the same thing.

Location
Just two blocks from the waterfront in the French Quarter, and five blocks from Rainbow Row (that much Instagrammed stretch of candy-hued facades).
