21c Museum Hotel Nashville
Artful Exhibitionism In Downtown Nashville
What it is
A hybrid of a boutique hotel and contemporary art gallery, in the historic Gray & Dudley building.
What it isn't
For those who think their six-year-old could do that.
What we think
Like its sister properties in Cincinnati, Oklahoma City, Durham, Louisville and other cities, the 21c brings a new perspective on both art and hospitality to a city with cosmopolitan aspirations. In Nashville, the brand hired architect Deborah Berke to revamp a historic warehouse downtown, creating more than 10,500 square feet of exhibition space for both curated temporary shows and site-specific commissions. The 124 rooms are cheerfully contemporary, with amenities including Nespresso machines and Malin+Goetz products in the glass-enclosed shower; Terrace rooms and suites have views over the Cumberland River. Gray and Dudley serves high-end comfort food in Tennessee style, and their old-fashioneds are the stuff of legend.
You're here because
You like your honky-tonk with an art scene as powerful as the music.
The Moment
You’ve spent a few hours wandering the 21c’s expansive galleries and working up an appetite. Gray & Dudley’s GD burger and hand-cut fries beckon--as does the Menagerie exhibition that uses the restaurant as its gallery.
