Nashville, Tennessee
Hutton Hotel
Soulful Star
What it is
A 250-room hideaway on Music Row with its own recording studios.
What it isn't
Themey. Don’t expect honky tonk-level cheesiness to pervade this stylish hideaway, where nods to Nashville are modern and prudent (deep channelled leather sofas; amp-inspired textiles).
What we think
Johnny Cash has passed, but his sonorous spirit lives on in this newly revamped queen of Nashville. Designed by Studio 11 Design, rooms in the 1970 landmark are now warrens of streamlined style, with granite bathrooms complete with rainfall showers and come-to-you spa treatments by Adagio. Amenities are equally “wow”: look for a 24-hour gym stocked with Peleton bikes and TRX machines; gratis miles in a three mile radius in their Tesla Model S; and even, if you request it, a record player and horde of vinyl albums in your room. To step into the 5,000-square-foot Analog Music Venue is to step back in time (save for the Bose sound system, natch). If, while listening to the live jam of Grammy-winning Maren Morris and sipping your Angel Envy whiskey, you meet a boy named Sue, tell him Johnny sent you.
You're here because
You can’t abide by chain coffee. Hutton Hotel has its own WestEnd Coffee Bar with Brooklyn-roasted Parlor coffee, Nashville’s own High Garden tea (much of which is locally harvested), and pastries—like freshmade beignets served with housemade jam—from Crimson Witch Patisserie.
The Moment
You’ve never felt more ready to paint the town all shades of red than tonight, after a dinner at the hotel’s local-stocked WestEnd Kitchen & Bar. Was it the aged cheddar cheeseburger on brioche with onion marmalade that lit a fire under you? Or the buttermilk-smoked wings or deviled eggs with maple bourbon glazed bacon? You’re not positive, but you know one thing. You’re coming back tomorrow morning for a grapefruit brulee and detox smoothie, just like local legend Dolly Parton would.
Restaurants & Bars
WestEnd Kitchen - American with southern infused influence.
WestEnd Bar - Signature cocktails and fresh revivals of classics.
Analog - Music & cocktails - Open Tuesday through Saturday.
Location
On Nashville’s boot scootin’ Music Row, just a few blocks from Vanderbilt University and the 1853 Belmont Mansion, an OTT (over the top) abode that once belonged to a cotton heiress and is now open for tours. The infamous Hattie B’s Hot Chicken is literally across the street from the hotel, so don’t plan on losing weight on this trip.
