The Hermitage Hotel
What it is
A buttoned up ode to Southern grandeur since 1910, with 122 huge rooms (starting at 500-square-feet), doting service, and storied restaurants.
What it isn't
Characterless. Guests have included President Kennedy, Charlie Chaplin, Babe Ruth...the list goes on.
What we think
The beaux arts era of ornate luxury is alive and well here (just look at the lobby’s painted glass skylight!)—with a modern twist. So while rooms may look as timeless as ever, with ornate window treatments, gilt mirrors and mahogany furniture, they’re fitted with all the amenities modern belles demand: Bose docking stations, in-mirror televisions, Frette linens, Italian marble bathrooms, Molton Brown toiletries, Nespresso machines, and even pillow menus that allow you to pick from everything from down to buckwheat...shall we go on? Brides flock here for weddings for more than the ballrooms; the hotel’s spa has some of the best treatments in town (you want a coffee body scrub. Trust us: you’ll perk right up.)
You're here because
The service is as legendary as the locale itself—you’ll have on-call limo service, a 24-hour concierge, dry cleaning, and even an on-call bath concierge if you want to slip into a tailor-made soak….
You’ve always had a major thing for bourbon, and even more so after you’ve had a glass. So you’re beyond delighted when you slip into the Oak Bar and find they have an actual bourbon library some 130-bottles deep. (No surprise, given that during the Prohibition they were caught pouring boubon from teapots (shhh). It being happy hour, you go crazy with the appetizers—fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese, truffled parmesan frites. All the better to soak up your 21 year old Willett Straight Bourbon.
Downtown Nashville, just two blocks from the Tennessee State Capitol and four from the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum, which rocks just as hard as it sounds.
