What it isn't

Artless. The hotel is stocked with museum-worthy pieces, from a showstopping glass and copper chandelier by Misha Kahn to a hand-tooled leather wall panel custom-made by Lucchese (yes, the iconic Texas cowboy boot company).

What we think

A throwback honky-tonk, this isn’t. The Joseph rises from Nashville’s storied skyline like a song you just can’t get out of your head. Airy guest rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows, marble-lined baths, and truly luxe amenities, including Frette linens, plush robes and evening turn-down service. There’s no bad room, here, thanks to a starting square footage of 399 square feet, but we do especially love the 525 square foot Deluxe Suite for its soaking tub in the spa-like bathroom, separate living room (complete with Bose speakers for the turntable), and custom details aplenty, from red oak casings to original art pieces from the carefully curated Pizzuti Collection. Don’t miss stopping in at the spa for a Biologique Recherche facial, a favorite of Nashville’s next country starlets.

After a pasta-making class with Michelin-starred Chef Tony Mantuano, you can’t wait to indulge in his menu at Yolan, which summons Italy’s Campania region right here in Tennessee. Tonight’s best taste of heaven? The risotto, with corn, parmigiano-reggiano, and peekytoe crab.
