The Kimpton Pittman Hotel

Storied Stunner

What it is

A Beaux Arts 1916 hotel reborn for today by Kimpton, with award-winning seasonal restaurants, a heated outdoor pool, and gratis treats galore for guests.

What it isn't

Just for humans. Kimpton is famously pet-pampering; expect fluffy pet beds, feeding mats and loaner leashes…and no limits on dogs allowed. Go ahead and bring all 10.

What we think

The first Black architect in Texas famously designed this high-rise in 1916 as a temple for the Knights of Pythias. In the jazz age, it became a hub for Dallas’s swinging scene; blues legend Blind Lemon Jefferson graced the stage in the ballroom here. Now completely revamped as a hotel by Kimpton, the property retains its historic lines…but has plenty of perks for today’s traveler. Amenities include an evening wine hour; coffee and tea service in the lobby each morning; in-room yoga mats, loaner bikes and an on-site gym…and much more. In even the starter room category, Frette linens, Atelier Bloem toiletries, and plush microfiber bathrobes await. Book the 695-square-foot Historic King Suite for a deep egg-shaped soaking tub you’ll never want to get out of.

You're here because

You’re bringing the kids, and Kimpton rolls out the red carpet for them, too. They loan out everything from Cleanwater Tub’s with built-in thermometers to MamaRoo4 infant seats that sway like a good dream.

The Moment

At Deep End, their aptly named poolside outdoor bar with a wood grill and local produce, you’ve decided to indulge. It is vacay, after all. Your order tonight? Grilled Texas quail with jalapeno poached pear and a bourbon glazed bone marrow that was worth your trip to Texas alone.
