The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston

Skyscraping Luxury

What it is

A 38-story tower complete with a two-level Rolls-Royce showroom, Deco-inspired outdoor pool, 7 restaurants and 20,000-square-foot spa.

What it isn't

Just a hotel. The property also maintains 20 residential suites for long-term stays (i.e. if you want to move in, and you will, you actually can).

What we think

As if a harbinger of pampering to come, the lobby of the Post Oak is fitted with a gleaming Swarovski crystal chandelier. The glamour continues in each guest room, all of which are absolutely enormous (starting at 526 square feet). Among the luxurious touches you’ll find: 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton bed linens, a marble bathroom with a deep soaking tub (plus Acqua Di Parma toiletries and plush, oversized Egyptian cotton towels for post-soak swaddling), and Technogym wellness racks (if the tricked-out 24-Hour fitness center doesn’t do it for you). Insiders book the 1,500-square-foot Post Oak Suite for a separate living space and kitchen, plus a prime red-tailed hawk’s view over Houston.

You're here because

If Beyonce came home to roost in her native Houston, The Post Oak would be ready for her intergalactic-level pampering. Among the experiences available here? Helicopter tours at sunset that take off from the hotel’s rooftop helipad (with bottles of bubbly, of course); curated shopping trips in a Bentley or Rolls-Royce; and private poolside tequila tastings or Champagne nights in the wine cellar.

The Moment

Perched in a pink velvet chair at garden-inspired Bloom & Bee, a locavore restaurant just off the lobby, you’re feeling abloom yourself. Or maybe that’s the hibiscus margarita talking. “Waiter, more Kaluga Huso Hybrid caviar, please.”

Restaurants & Bars

Mastro's Steakhouse - Steaks, chops and an array of fresh seafood selections

Willie G's Seafood - Seafood inspired by a passion for local, seasonal ingredients

Bloom & Bee - Enjoy light sustainable dishes to hearty handmade pastas for breakfast, lunch or dinner

Craft F&B - Southern craft food and brews

H Bar - Fine spirits and exotic cocktails

The Cellar - 30,000-bottle cellar with over 3,500 labels from nearly 23 renowned wine-producing countries

Location

In Uptown Houston, just a couple blocks walk from Memorial Park, among the largest urban parks in the nation at a whopping 1,466-square-feet (it’s true what they say; everything’s bigger in Texas). Just down the road, the comparatively teensy Gerald D. Hines Waterfall Park is a must-see for its 64-foot-tall rounded waterfall sculpture that reportedly pumps out 11,000 gallons of water every single minute (all recirculated).
